The National At-Home Dad Network (formerly Daddyshome, Inc.) announces the speaker and break-out session lineup as well as a unique Friday Meet & Greet Event for the upcoming 17th Annual At-Home Dads Convention. The convention, one of the longest running national gathering for fathers, will be the weekend of Oct. 6 in the Washington, D.C., area.
Dr. Rene Hackney highlights a strong list of speakers and returns to talk with the gathering of at-home dads for the second straight year. Hackney, a parenting and child development specialist and founder of Parenting Playgroups, was one of the most popular speakers at the 2011 convention. This year she will provide a two-hour morning workshop for all attendees.

He is a clinical psychologist and episcopal clergyman who is a specialist in relationship therapy and the emotional development of men. Siegel is the executive director of The Imago Center of Washington, D.C.
Another featured speaker is military spouse Jeremy Hilton, an at-home dad and advocate for military families impacted by disability and illness. He was named 2012 military spouse of the year and will discuss how and why he became the first man to win the award.
Bruce Tretter, the creator of a series of videos and picture books about quick and easy meals called Gotta Eat, Canʼt Cook, will also hold a session. Sheila Murphy, a career counselor with FlexForce Professionals, will talk about the transition from at-home dad to working dad.
Educational breakout sessions include Dad-to-Dad Age-Group Open Forum Discussions; How to Start and Grow a Local Dads Group; Science with Kids; Talking About Death with Small Children; Literacy and the Library; Moving the Conversation Forward: Using Media to Change the Perception of At-Home Dads; Dads and Daughters: What You Say; What They Hear; and much more.
Before the convention on Saturday there will be a fun and unique Meet and Greet event Friday night.
