Here we go: Our first 5 Things of 2012, highlighting happenings around Belleville for this coming week.

School is back in session starting Tuesday after an 11-day break. Parents around town are probably rejoicing, while their kids are dreading having to get reacclimated to classes, homework and waking up early.
-
The Belleville High School boys and girls basketball teams, as well as its wrestling squad, are all home this week. Led by first-year coach and all-time great Liz Ramirez, the Buccaneers (1-4) will host Montclair Kimberley Academy tomorrow at 4 p.m. Belleville's wrestling team (6-1) will welcome Cedar Grove on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. Bout. And on Thursday, the BHS boys basketball (3-1) will look to continue its winning ways when it tips off at 7 p.m. against Immaculate Conception of Montclair.
-
The Friends of Marine Sgt. Joe Longo III will sponsor a welcome home dinner Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus. Tickets are $25 per person and will include a buffet supper, beer, soda and dessert. All proceeds will benefit Sgt. Longo, a 2005 BHS graduate, for his upcoming wedding.
-
The first Belleville Zoning Board meeting will be held Thursday, 7 p.m., at Town Hall. We should learn more about the St. Mary and St. Mercurius Coptic Christian Church's plan for expansion, which is being protested via a petition that began circulating recently.
-
The annual Three Kings Day will take play Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Belleville Public Library. This is a free event that will include desserts, face painting, a magic show and presents.
