Belleville Drug Dealer Caught Selling Crystal Meth, Cops Say

42-year-old man allegedly had 15.9 grams of crystal meth in his apartment.

A Belleville resident was arrested for dealing crystal meth last week, Belleville police said.

Authorities set up surveillance of a William Street building on Monday, June 10 after a tip indicated there was drug dealing in the area, police said.

Officers saw a man walk out of a building to meet a car at about 2:15 p.m., police said.

The man entered the car after going back inside the building and left with the driver. Police followed the car to Mill Street, where the two men walked into and then out of a store before rexchanging money and a small item on the street, police said.

When officers approached the two men, the driver was found with a yellow plastic bag containing a substance suspected to be crystal meth, police said.

Officers suspected the passenger, Ricky Tulud, 42, of Belleville, had crystal meth and consented to have his apartment searched, police said.

In searching the apartment, officers found several yellow zip-lock bags containing a total of 15.9 grams of crystal meth along with a zip-lock bag containing marijuana, a glass pipe, a digital palm scale and several empty green zip-lock bags, police said.

Tulud was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crystal methamphetamine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park, distribution of controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tulud was arrested and held on $20,000 bail.

The driver, Joel Tayag, 45, of Little Ferry, was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and released on his own recognizance.
