Buono Drops in for Breakfast at Nutley Diner

Democratic Gubernatorial candidate discussed education, jobs at diner were she once worked.

Wednesday wasn’t the first time State Senator Barbara Buono stepped into the Nutley Diner.

The Nutley High School graduate worked at the restaurant, waiting tables when it was the Town and Country diner. Buono reminisced with patrons about the green dress she wore as a uniform during her shifts in between discussions about education and jobs.

Joe Rose, a Nutley resident and Buono supporter who was eating an omelet at the diner’s counter, remembered the Gubernatorial candidate as the smartest kid in class.

The visit came weeks after Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo led local Democratic politicians in endorsing Republican Governor Chris Christie. Assemblyman Ralph R. Caputo, who joined Buono in Nutley, said he was confident she would win Essex County and that her policies lined up with the beliefs of county residents.

Nutley Commissioner Thomas J. Evans was at the diner as a patron and expressed his wish to see a Governor with a strong voice and an ability to work with both sides of the aisle.
