Cub Scouts Meet IWF Stars

IWF Wrestlers Meet and Greet with Scouts of Pack 350

The Cub Scouts of Pack 350 from Belleville had a blast Friday night, April 29 when they met with their wrestling idols from the Independent Wrestling Federation. The IWF stars arrived at the Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Union Avenue around seven in the evening to grace the monthly meeting of the pack.

Assistant Den Leader Mario Nunez said, “The monthly pack meeting is where all the packs—Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos—have a little get together. Usually at this time, the kids get awards, whoever has achieved any ranks or any type of badges. It’s usually a fun night.”

Cubmaster  William Gonzales, having ties with some of the wrestlers from the IWF, came up with and produced this night’s particular activity.

Most of the scouts knew the wrestlers and a majority have watched their shows. That’s why everyone was excited to meet their idols that night.

Seven-year-old Emmanuel Molina said his favorite is Kevin Knight whom he’d met once before. Emmanuel likes wrestling because he is a wrestler himself for the Belleville Recreation Department squad.

Before the wrestlers came, the Scouts made their pledge, sang the national anthem, and the Tiger Scouts performed a couple of songs for the group.

When the special guests arrived, the boys lined up to get their autographs and have their pictures taken with their idols, who let the little ones hold their championship belts.

One boy, Justin Salamone, kept interviewing the wrestlers even after acquiring their autographs.

Mike Enslin, Justin's cousin who hails from Flemington, said he's been a fan of wrestling all his life. "I've a lot of belts and stuff like that."

Eight members of the IWF came, signed autographs, and happily indulged the boys' questions: Kevin Knight, Self-Made Travis Blake, German Menace Kraig Stagg, Yours Truly Lawson, Latin Lover Chachi, World-Class Karson Slade, Scrap Iron Joey Golden, and Varsity Marc Corino, who said he used to go to Belleville’s School Number 7.
