With Termination Imminent, Paserchia Quits PVSC
Governor Ousts Six of Seven Commissioners at Agency Run as a 'Spoils System'
UPDATE, JAN. 28: Angie Paserchia, a former Belleville mayor, has resigned her post as commissioner of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, The Star Ledger reported yesterday. She, along with five other commissioners, were told earlier this week that they would be fired for cause by Gov. Chris Christie. Commissioners, however, were also given the option of resigning voluntarily by yesterday.

A little more than a week after ordering the seven members of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission to provide a full accounting of hiring practices at the utility, Gov. Chris Christie has fired six of them, including Angie Paserchia, a former Belleville mayor.
The firings were reported by The Star Ledger tonight.
The action comes following a report in the Ledger earlier this month detailing a wide array of questionable practices at the agency, including patronage hires, no-bid contracts awarded to politically connected firms, and lavish perks and salaries for employees.
The agency, based in Newark, serves 48 communities in Bergen, Passaic, Essex and Hudson counties.

A step in the right direction to curb graft & save money! Hope our state govt. keeps unearthing more issues to clean up.

Now we will see if Senators Rice and Cody and the other county senators will block reforms by not allowing Christie's nominations to go through. They have that ability through Senatorial privilage. With so much to hide it will be interseting to watch how this plays out and who will ultimately be ensnared.
