Lincoln Park Music Festival Begins Today

See schedule for seventh annual festival in Newark this weekend

 

A weekend-long "Celebration of Spirit and Dance" begins Friday afternoon as the Lincoln Park Music Festival gets underway in Newark.

The seventh annual festival runs until Sunday with a mix of music, from jazz to gospel and house music to hip-hop.

Friday, July 27

Noon-3 p.m.: An Afternoon of Jazz
Performers include Amiri Baraka, the NewArk Orchestra, Adegoke Steve Colson, Alfred Patterson, and Rudy Walker.

3-6 p.m.: 8th Anniversary of YOPAT Newark Idol - "A Tribute to Whitney Houston"

6-9 p.m.: An Evening of Gospel
Performers will include Hav’ Mercy, Linelle Andrews-One Voice, Dawn Tallman, S 3 and the Truth.

Saturday, July 28

Noon-9:30 p.m.: Celebration of House Music
DJs and artists will perform, featuring Kevin Hedge, Lou Gorbea, T-Wise, Darnell, Keisha Hall, Jon Pierce, Rick Galactik, Viola Sykes, Dawn Tallman, Kenny Bobien, Alicia Myers, and Leroy Burgess.

Sunday, July 29

1-8 p.m.: Celebration of Hip-Hop

The Rock Steady Crew will mark its 35th anniversary with the “Rock Steady for Life” concert, hosted by End of the Weak, with special guests Craig G, Mister Cheeks, and Consequence.
