NJ Crime Rose 3% in 2011, Report Shows
Murder, rape and robberies up, aggravated assaults down from 2010.
Overall crime in New Jersey rose 3-percent from 2010 to 2011, but violent crimes remained the same, according to New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa.
Those violent crimes, which are classified as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault made up for 27,173—or 13-percent—of the state’s overall crimes, according to Chiesa's release.
Overall, there were 217,073 reported crimes in New Jersey in 2011.
Murder rose 2-percent from 2010 to 2011, from 372 reported incidents to 380. Rape reports rose from 985 to 991, and robberies had the biggest jump from 11,859 to 12,216, the report showed.
Aggravated assault dropped 3-percent from 13,958 reports to 13,586.
July had the highest number of reported violent crimes, the report showed, with 2,563 offenses. February had the lowest number of reported violent crimes with 1,644.
“The latest crime data shows a slight increase in the overall crime rate in New Jersey,” Chiesa said in a statement. “Although the factors that influence crime trends are complex and interwoven, we remain committed to working harder and smarter to combat crime and protect New Jersey citizens during what remains a tough economic time for much of our state and our nation.”
According to the report, there was a crime committed once every 2 minutes and 25 seconds in 2011, and males accounted for 69-percent of the arrests made.

It's surprising that the crime rate did not increase more considering the increasingly godless society we live in.
And don't give me the nonsense about the earth being 6000 years old or God being a mythical figure like Santa Claus. I am talking about people believing in something bigger than themselves and being held accountable for their actions.

One should not need the threat of a big white alpha male in the sky to make one behave. We are all accountable for our actions -- accountable to ourselves, our loved ones, and the society in which we live. I don't need the threat of divine retribution for that, why do you?

Society has become too concerned with political correctness and lost sight of personal responsibility. We experienced a period record low crime rates after the 1980’s and people, especially those in places like Ridgewood and beyond have a false sense of security that lulls them into a careless attitude making many easy victims. Add to these poor economic times and decreases in police, prosecutors, jailers and programs for the mentally ill and addicted and you have the perfect storm for rising crime.

To bad crime is up in NJ, Most of the older officers Had to or have retired, It's nice to give freedom of speech, and fancy lawyers or public defenders that stand up for dirt bags that should be in prison or worse ! Bend a few rules I'm not saying put a 38 to the temple, No drugs in school, no gangs in or by the schools, suspect guns during a stop,ask to search or get a dog to search the vehicle. Plus The system sucks, rapist are let out to soon, same with Felony, Why ? Because no problem in jail. Once on the streets the Animals don't know how to behave redo the same crime or worse !! And then they flaw it on the system except it may have been your sister or mother or child that the crime was against.

No Nucky, they got caught so they’re screwed, or perhaps better said the sacrificial lambs. However, if any of these “troopers” had noticed they were being taped, I’m willing to bet you they would have pulled over the tapers and illegally taken the tapes from them.
I used to believe in my police, truly I did. But sadly I don’t anymore because most of them and particularly at the State level have joined the ranks of the elite, making close to $100,000 a year, amazing benefits, full retirement in just 20 years and exempt from just about any law on the books. They no longer care about right, wrong, innocent or guilt, they just care to be the highly paid bullies on the street, and they certainly don’t stand to protect the constitution of either the United States of America, or the State of NJ, which they swore they would when they took their oath of office!
Can anyone even get a job as a policeman any longer without a politician opening the door for them?
To Protect and Serve, has turned into To Make Revenue, and Screw the Citizen! Just like the rest of "our" government does!
