Nutley, Belleville Boy Scouts Invite New Members
Nutley Cub Scout Pack No. 141 has a meeting for three schools tonight, a second meeting on Sunday for other schools, while Belleville Cub Scout Troop No. 350 invites all schools to join.
With the fall season, boy scout leaders in Nutley and Belleville are welcoming any boys in grades one through five to join their ranks and enjoy many fun activities.
In Nutley, all boys in those grades from three of the elementary schools, along with their parents, are invited to a special recruiting meeting today, Thursday Sept. 13 at Yantacaw School, 20 Yantacaw Pl. in Nutley, according to Walt Smith, scout leader.
The meeting is for boys in Yantacaw, Radcliffe and Washington schools, and will begin at 6:45 p.m., he said.
The meeting is in the gym and Smith said the meeting will finish in time for the Yantacaw parents to attend the Yantacaw Parent Teacher Organization meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the school.
Pack 142 will be hosting a separate meeting for students of Spring Garden, Lincoln and Radcliffe schools, to be held at Vincent United Methodist Church, 100 Vincent Pl. on Sunday Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. Parents can contact Jill Kuczek at firstname.lastname@example.org.
"Scouting is a great program that will teach the boys about core values such as citizenship, cooperation, courage, honesty, resourcefulness, and responsibility," Smith said in a statement. "The best part of scouting is that they will have fun doing it all."
The pack also has plenty of special activities throughout. They are Pinewood Derby races , an International Food Festival, a boat regatta and overnight camping, Scouting for Food to collect for those in need, camping at Jackals Stadium in Montclair, marching in the Nutley parades and many special trips to local attractions, he said.
Prospective members and their parents are invited to hear a brief outline of scouting activities, meet with pack leaders, fill out membership applications and get needed information on meetings and activities.
