Nutley Businesses Hosting Huge Street Fair Saturday
Chamber of Commerce, officials inviting the public to town-wide sidewalk sales
This Saturday, Sept. 29, the Nutley Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual townwide sidewalk sale all along Franklin Avenue and town officials will hold townwide yard and garage sale just off the Franklin Avenue business center in parking lot no. 1.
The Nutley Chamber of Commerce Day is sponsoring its annual town wide sidewalk sale, scheduled to coincide with the township’s town-wide "yard" sale.
Residents are invited to stroll, shop and dine from Washington to Bloomfield avenues and from Kingsland Avenue to the high power lines at the town border from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., chamber officials said.
The chamber is encouraging all Nutley retailers, eateries, salons, and every other type of business in between to offer special sales.
“We represent over 200 local businesses and professionals,” said Chamber President Luther Engler of Engler Financial Services. “But the sidewalk sale is open to all Nutley businesses, not just our members.”
“An end of summer side walk sale is a perfect opportunity for the public to see what the local merchants have to offer,” said Doreen Sitar of Prints Charming gift shop in the heart of Nutley’s Olde Towne Centre.
It’s not just merchandise on sale -- many restaurants, spas and salons around town also offering specials, officials said.
Many banks will have giveaways, and even a few medical offices will be offering informational demonstrations, according to officials.
Also Saturday,Commissioner Joseph Scarpelli and the Greenutley Committee plan to hold the fourth annual town-wide garage sale, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in parking lot no. 1 off Franklin Avenue.
The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 30.
The garage sale is a Greenutley Initiative designed to raise awareness of the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling, he said.
“The garage sale has been quite successful over the past few years,” Scarpelli said in a statement. “It’s important for us to get the word out early so that residents can mark their calendars and begin preparing for their sale.”
Residents are encouraged to participate, with registration now under way, and clean out attics, basements and closets in preparation for the sale.
