Nutley Schools Reopen Monday, Middle School Open Saturday to Residents Needing to Charge Devices
District also said school may be cancelled on individual days next week
From the office of the Nutley Superintedent of Schools:
As we continue to recover from the effects of Hurricane Sandy it is imperative that we return students to the classroom as swiftly and consistently as possible. The week of November 5th will be a full week of school. Each day, Monday through Friday, will be a full session day.
If conditions change, it may become necessary to cancel days next week. These decisions will be made on a day-to-day basis and you will be informed through our normal means, including phone, text, and email messages as well as posted information on www.nutleyschools.org and on Twitter @NutleySuper. At this point in time, though, Nutley Public Schools will be open for a full week of school the week of November 5th.
Extended Day Services will be available as usual, all week except on Election Day. There will be no before or after care on Tuesday, November 6th. The rest of the week Extended Day will operate as normal.
These days will be used to offset the days lost during this week, allowing us flexibility in the calendar as we enter winter and face the possibility of more necessary school closings.
For those without power, we opened the middle school [325 Washington Ave.] cafeteria Friday to residents in order to recharge electronic devices and connect to the internet. We are offering the same opportunity tomorrow, Saturday, November 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria. Please enter on the side of the building.
The administrators, teachers, and staff continue to come together and support the community. I hope that you and your families are warm and safe. For those of you still struggling, our thoughts are with you and if there is any way the school district can assist, please let us know.
Also, please remember that Saturday into Sunday, we fall back, losing an hour.
Thank you and be safe.
