Exit 6 on the northbound side of Rt. 21 in Belleville remained closed Friday morning as repairs continue on a water main that burst around 10 am yesterday.

A state Department of Transportation spokesman said Friday that the exit is tentatively scheduled to reopen when the main is repaired by around 3 pm this afternoon. He cautioned, however, that the exit may remain closed longer if repairs are slowed down by the frigid temperatures or other conditions.

The main break does not affect any Belleville properties, the township’s public works department said.
