Craving On And Off The Plate

When I started my practice as a craveologist, I thought nutrition was going to be the only thing I consulted people on. But fate had a better idea. I realized the intimate connection between food and life, the two things we truly can't separate.

(View my site for more information on my philosophy at www.thecraveologist.com.)

But the biggest question that I receive is: what do I eat?

And I always say, it is not what, it is not how much, it is HOW you eat.

It is how we think, act and treat food, not just what we put in our mouths that truly counts.

People who believe one specific diet or way of eating is right are limiting their opportunities, and in turn these beliefs extend into life; they limit our potential.

For example, I often hear, "I don't eat meat." Therefore they assume they are healthy. But not necessarily.

And the sentence after is usually so connected to their first, the same person will follow with, "I am a teacher, I am a banker, I am a doctor, etc." People limit who they are to one label, one idea and one diet.

Why can't we, as intellectual and open-minded beings say, "I love vegetables, the occasional dark chocolate, teaching yoga, drawing portraits, reading often and teaching my third grade students."

It is when we are inclusive of our gifts, wants, likes and talents, that we truly reveal who we are. Do not limit your eating style to one structured label and do not limit yourself to one word. You are more than your job and you are more than your food.

Crave on and crave more.

Your Craveologist,

Donna
