In that time, owner and Belleville resident Arlene Carrini has grown the selection from two racks to multiple rooms featuring gently worn designer women’s clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories. Nutley Native Raising Funds for Suicide Awareness and Prevention
Local woman uses personal tragedy to bring attention to issues that are often kept hidden.
Chloe Malfitano’s mother Wanda took her own life the day before Chloe turned 19. Malfitano said that while in hindsight, she recognizes signs that her mother was struggling, her suicide came as a tragic surprise. Her mother, she said, always tried to be strong for her family and kept her inner conflict hidden. “She seemed like any normal person,” Malfitano said of her mother Wanda. “She suffered her own demons. She had this darkness inside her that no one knew about.” The Nutley native wants to help people let people who are feeling consumed by depression bring their feelings into the light. Nutley Commissioners Clash Over Garden Apartment Zoning
The Board of Commissioners disagree about the need to change zoning to allow only industrial development and no more garden apartments for the River Road area.
The Nutley Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night split over whether or not to change zoning and allow industrial business while preventing any new garden apartments along part of River Road. Commissioner Joseph Scarpelli agreed to table the change after another commissioner said the board needs more information and discussion about the need for the move. One major issue is determining how many new students have been added to schools by new apartment construction in the East Centre Street area. Nutley officials have said they are concerned with an increase in the housing density in Nutley and how that change affects increased needs for services and rising school enrollment. Bow Tie Cinemas Agrees to Purchase Clearview
Cablevision sells 41 venues to Ridgefield, Conn. chain.
Bow Tie Cinemas of Ridgefield, Conn. announced it has purchased 41 Clearview Cinema theaters from Cablevision, a published report said Monday. With the acquisition, which will make Bow Tie the nation’s number 8 exhibition company, Bow Tie vows to pay for “key upgrades that are designed to enhance the movie-going experience,” including digital and 3D projection, according to a report on the website Deadline.com. Clearview currently has 26 theaters in New Jersey, the report said. Cablevision bought the venues in 1998 and put the chain up for sale last year.
