Spuntino Awarded 2013 Good Neighbor Award New Jersey Business & Industry Selects Doherty Enterprises Original Concept Restaurant Among Winners

Clifton, NJ – September 3, 2013 – Doherty Enterprises, Inc., the 10th largest restaurant franchisee in the US, proudly announced that its newest brand, Spuntino Italian Wine Bar and Italian Tapas, was a recipient of the 53rd Annual New Jersey Business and Industry Awards (NJBIA). The 2013 Awards Ceremony recently held at the Pines Manor in Edison and recognized a select group of companies whose energy and vision resulted in exceptional achievement.

“Spuntino” is the Italian word for snack and “tapas”  translates to snacks in Spanish – together you have an original concept restaurant that blends tapas-style of dining with Italian cuisine prepared by Culinary Institute of America (CIA) trained Chef Joshua Bernstein. Featured in the New York Times in January 2013, “Spuntino delivers honestly priced small plates and great values on its all Italian Wine List.” Located at 70 Kingsland Road in the Clifton Commons on Route 3 East in Clifton, the Times noted “Spuntino is a welcome respite in an area that needs one, an oasis of good wine and decent, unpretentious cooking.”

“Spuntino was nominated by the Honorable William (Bill) Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) and we were elated,” said Kurt Pahlitzsch, Vice President of Specialty Restaurants of Doherty Enterprises, Inc. “We appreciate the Congressman’s nod to our contribution of job creation and tax revenue to the community as a New Jersey-based parent company,” said Pahlitzsch.
