What better way to celebrate Independence Day than to have a block party?
Tables and chairs out, the banquet spread out, swimming pools filled with water, games and drinks ready for takers...this was the scene at Overlook Road yesterday, as residents gathered for their annual 4th of July celebration.
The kids were in their swimsuits enjoying a splash or playing in the street, while the more senior ones sat under the shades.
Moms and pops were clearly having a great time sharing some laughs and food with their neighbors, as Vernon Cabalfin provided the music from his booming sound system.
Grateful neighbors point to Patty Piegaro as the one responsible for making their yearly block party happen.
"We just come out like this every year," said Patty, "and wait for the fireworks."
Overlook Road sure had a good view of the fireworks from Belleville High. By nightfall, they would simply pull out their recliners by the roadside, and watch the magic happen in the sky.
