Kids’ Fishing Derbies Announced at Essex Parks

The first of six free fishing events takes place this Saturday at Branch Brook Park

Kids in Belleville and Nutley can start fishing this weekend and have some fun with a rod and tackle.

Children are invited to cast their lines in lakes and ponds around Essex County, as part of a family fishing derby series taking place from April 14 to June 16.

“Our fishing derbies are an excellent opportunity for our children to enjoy the historic Essex County Park System in a different and fun way,” said Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. “You’ll have a great time creating your own ‘big fish’ stories and spending some quality time with your friends and family in some of the most beautiful parks in the area.”
