Nutley Man Named Officer of Architects Group

Peist earned degrees at NJIT

The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-NJ) installed Nutley resident Jason Peist, associate AIA, as its 2013 to 2015 regional associate director at the organization’s annual awards gala Jan. 5 in Point Pleasant Beach.

Peist, an intern architect, is the design director for T.M. Rybak & Associates (TMR), a full-service architectural, planning, interior design, engineering, construction management and design/build firm in Rutherford.

He joined TMR full-time after graduating from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He had previously worked at TMR during the school year and summers. In 2011 Peist received his master’s in technical communication, also from NJIT. He is currently preparing for the Architecture Registration Exams.

In addition to his work at TMR, Peist also has his own business, Jason Peist Design & Graphics. The business, which he founded in 2012, specializes in graphic design, rendering, technical writing and marketing geared towards architecture firms.

“I’m looking forward to my two-year post as associate director of AIA-NJ,” said Peist. “As an intern architect and chair of the Emerging Professionals Committee for AIA-Newark and Suburban, I have my finger on the pulse of young architects and can advocate on their behalf.”

AIA New Jersey, based in Trenton, is the statewide chapter of the national AIA. The chapter was formed in 1900, uniting the architects of the state by merging the AIA Chapter with the New Jersey Society of Architects.
