Nutley Man Wins a Mini in Maass Raffle

Proceeds from event to benefit medical center

A Nutley man won a 2012 MINI Cooper raffled off by the Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation of Belleville.

Larry DiSimone, a retired Bayonne firefighter who received hip surgery at Clara Maass, bought two tickets in a recent fundraising drive for the hospital.

“I got the information in the mail and I remembered how much Clara Maass helped me and how they got me walking again so I had to give back. I knew that even if I didn’t win, my money would still be going to a great cause,” DiSimone said of his decision to purchase tickets.

“It’s really exciting to us that the winner is a local man – someone not just familiar with the Medical Center, but who has actually received care here,” said Jane Kessler, VP, CMMC Foundation. “Patients giving back to Clara Maass is a positive indicator of how they feel about the quality care provided here. Philanthropy can be a give and take process.”
