Produce Pete in Nutley Sunday

TV's favorite vegetable expert in town for Farmers Market

Commissioner Joseph P. Scarpelli would like to invite all to the Oct. 14 Farmers Market to meet Produce Pete of WNBC’s Weekend in NY. The market will also feature the first Nutley Food Fest, with local-area restaurants offering samples of their healthy dishes. The Greenutley Farmers Market runs from 9am to 1pm in Municipal Parking Lot #1 on William Street; Produce Pete will be at the market from 10am to 1pm.

“October 14  will be an exciting day at the market,” Scarpelli said. “Produce Pete is a huge supporter of local markets and he’s happy to be visiting during our Nutley Food Fest.”

Produce Pete is the host of the “Produce Pete” segment on WNBC’s Weekend in NY – a segment about choosing the best seasonal produce. Produce Pete, a.k.a. Pete Napolitano, will host a booth and will be available for a meet and greet as well as pictures. Attendees will also have an opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of his “Produce Pete’s Farmacopeia” book, as well as other Produce Pete merchandise.

The market’s Nutley Food Fest will also host local restaurants such as American Bistro, Chestnut Café, Ralph’s and Terrazza, with more expected to participate. Restaurants plan to sample their dishes that feature seasonal produce, as well as some of their healthier dishes. All are invited to come out and enjoy the variety and flavor that Nutley restaurants have to offer.

The Greenutley Farmers Market runs through Sunday, October 28th, with the following activities on the remainder of the market season calendar:

Oct.  21 – Techno Trash Day: CD’s, DVD’s, VHS tapes & plastic jewel cases will be collected for recycling

Oct.  28 – Rigid Plastic Recycling: bulky, rigid plastics will be collected for recycling
