St. Peter's Church Reenacts Christ's Passion Today

Event Held Annually on Good Friday Commemorates Jesus' Crucifixion

The most holy day in the Christian calendar, when Jesus is believed to have risen from the dead, is Easter, this Sunday, and is preceded by Good Friday -- the day when millions of Christians around the world commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

As it does annually on Good Friday, St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church on William Street today re-enacted the founding event of the world's largest faith. Actors portraying Roman centurions, onlookers and others staged a play showing Jesus' last moments in mortal form.

Patch photographer Antonella Rao was there to capture the reenactment, which was held at noon today.
