Foundation Grant Helps Agency Hire Aide for Adult Day Care Program

The Investors Foundation, which provides funding to organizations that enrich the communities served by Investors Bank, has awarded a $10,000 grant to 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey in Belleville.  The grant builds on funding provided by the Foundation to the agency over the past several years.

1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey was organized by concerned parents determined to raise awareness about cerebral palsy and neurological disabilities. Today, the organization operates school programs, sports and extracurricular activities, and a wide variety of therapy and medical services.

The grant will contribute towards the hire of a full-time aide for the agency’s adult medical day care program.  The aide works closely with the program’s 27 participants, providing care and assistance, transportation, and vital interaction.  Individuals enrolled in the adult medical day care program participate in exercise programs, health and art education, field trips, and vocational skills courses.

“Our program provides structure and support for physically disabled individuals with chronic health issues, ranging from the age of 21 to 65,” explained Patrick Colligan, the organization’s executive director. “The aide position plays a crucial role in the quality and success of this program.

“ For nearly seventy years, 1st Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey has helped children and adults with health issues and disabilities to reach their highest potential for independence and quality of life,” said Investors Bank President and CEO Kevin Cummings.  “We applaud their outstanding efforts in behalf of the people and families they serve.”

“We are most thankful for the continued generosity of the Investors Foundation, and all our partners and donors,” said Colligan.  “Their support makes our programs possible.”
