Vendors Wanted for Upcoming Craft Show

The Nov. 17-18 craft show will aid retired racing greyhounds; some dogs will be available for adoption at the event.

Vendors and crafters are sought for the 16th Annual Craft Show & Pet Show, sponsored by the Greyhound Friends of New Jersey.

The group's largest fundraiser of the year will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18 at the Westfield Armory, 500 Rahway Avenue, Westfield. Hours are Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Fundraising events like the craft show are crucial to the group's rescue efforts. The Greyhound Friends of New Jersey provides healthcare and finds safe, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds.

Linda Lyman, President of Greyhound Friends of New Jersey said, "We are so pleased to see our event continue to grow and welcome our presenting sponsors: NorthStar VETS, Shreiber Animal Foundation Enterprise and Valley Veterinary Hospital. Again this year, we're expecting 100 vendors to join us. Especially in times like these, we need all the help we can find. We rely on donations to save these wonderful greyhounds since adoption fees don't come close to covering our expenses for each dog we rescue. These sweet dogs make excellent pets."

Funds raised at the show help pay for the care of hundreds of greyhounds, including veterinary care, kennel bills and transportation. The funds also pay for special medical care, including orthopedic surgery for greyhounds who break their legs on the racetrack. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed or neutered and receive dental care, heartworm testing and inoculations.

The show will feature an array of gifts for the holidays, a bake sale and a raffle. Santa will also be there, posing for digital photos with pets. Singer/songwriter Carolyn Messina, back by popular demand, will entertain guests. Leashed pets are welcome at this event.  And while you're there, don;t forget to stop by "The Grey Café" for lunch.
