52 kids help jumpstart Food Pantry!

Kids summer program helps supply local Food Pantry.

One of my responsibilities as Children's Pastor at River of Life (ROL) is to plan and organize our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for kids. I have been directing VBS programs along with my wife for the past 13 years. From undersea adventures to arctic expeditions every VBS is unique in theme and Bible application. This year I chose a food themed curriculum titled, "Shake It Up Café" (SIUC). We had a total of 52 children registered for an entire week of games, crafts, food experiments, great music, interactive Bible stories and more! One of the lessons at SIUC encouraged the children to "Give happily to God." They were taught that one way of doing this is by happily giving to others especially those in need. To help them put what they learned into practice we asked every child to bring one non-perishable food item every night to help us build a food pantry. This photo shows 2/3 of the items that were collected during the week. It fills my heart with joy to know that 52 kids, mostly from our surrounding neighborhoods, supplied the first batch of food to stock a food pantry at ROL. Thank you little chefs for Giving happily to God!
