Drug Arrest
May 29
Ronnie E. Baker, 55 of Montclair was arrested and charged with possession of a substance believed by police to be heroin at 9:41 p.m. near Franklin Street and Naples Avenue.

Police said Baker exchanged money in an apparent drug deal and had two small, white glassine envelopes marked with "Ferragamo" in purple ink, containing heroin, and six more envelopes with "Red Lobster" marked in red ink, containing heroin. He was held on an unspecified amount of bail.

May 31
A mother reported her 16-year-old daughter missing at 8:37 p.m. The mother said she checked on her daughter at about 5 p.m. when the daughter was supposed to be doing homework. Police found the window to the girl’s bedroom on Overlook Avenue open, which led to a fire escape, also found open.
As of June 6, the girl was still reported missing.
Fraud Reported
May 30
A woman residing on Parkside Drive reported at noon that someone had spent $1,950 on her Bill Me Later PayPal account. Officials from Valley National Bank, the woman’s bank, said no money had been taken out of her account. Bill Me Later PayPal officials told her the purchase was made using her name but a different address. The woman then changed her bank accounts, police said.
Outstanding Warrants
May 27
Lamont Stokes, 35, of Newark was arrested and charged with having a no-bail warrant from the Essex County Sheriff's Department, along with an outstanding $500 warrant from East Orange. Stokes was turned over to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
May 31
Raul Lopez, 24, and Miguel A. Padilla, 19, both of Newark, were arrested and charged with outstanding warrants. Lopez had a $205 warrant from Elizabeth, while Padilla had an outstanding $350 warrant from Newark. Both were released on their own recognizance.
Stolen Car Reported
May 28
A red 2006 Dodge Caravan was reported stolen on Franklin Street and later recovered in Elizabeth.
May 29
Stolen Car Arrest
Manuel R. Estevez, 29, of Port Richie, Fla. was arrested and charged with stealing a white, commercial GMC pickup truck and receiving stolen property at 12:33 p.m. near Rutgers and Main streets.
Estevez was wanted for a nationwide extradition warrant from Florida, and had two $300 outstanding warrants from Newark. He was at Essex County Jail awaiting extradition to Florida.
