Belleville Police Make Drug Arrests

Two men caught at School 8

Belleville police made a number of narcotics-related arrests last week, including two men who were reportedly trespassing at a township school.

Shortly after noon Jan. 8, police pulled over a motorist for speeding on Bremond Street. The driver, 29-year-old Tristen Ambrosino, was arrested after officers spotted six baggies of what appeared to be marijuana inside the car, police said. Ambrosino, whose hometown was not immediately available, was charged with careless driving and possession of drugs.

The following evening, at 10:50 pm, police responded to School 8, at Holmes and New streets, after receiving reports that two people were seen on an overhang near the school’s ball field. Officers spotted the two men as well as a small quantity of marijuana and a wooden grinder on the rooftop, police said.

Pedro Ortiz, 19, of Newark, and Omar Castillo of Belleville were both arrested and charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were later released.
