Tools Worth Thousands Stolen in Belleville Thefts

About $8,500 worth of tools and other times stolen in three incidents.

Thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of tools in three different burglaries in late June, Belleville police said.

More than $950 worth of tools and other items were reported stolen on June 25 from an unlocked shed in the yard of a Holmes Street residence, police said. A weed wacker, a power washer, a Garmin GPS, assorted cleaning products and $20 in quarters were among the items stolen, police said.

A contractor told police on June 28 $2,600 worth of tools were stolen from two unlocked pick-up trucks, police said. Police said two Makita brand handsaws and three nail guns, including one Hitachi nail gun, were stolen.

Also that day, a Smith Street homeowner reported the front lock of the house’s garage door was broken. A toolbox containing mechanics tools were stolen along with a pioneer car stereo.
