Dashcam Shows Police Beating, Exonerates Essex County Man

Bloomfield officers have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, official misconduct, falsifying reports and assault charges.

A Bloomfield man has been cleared of all charges after a police dashcam video has surfaced showing township officers aggressively pulling him out of an SUV and striking him several times on the Garden State Parkway in 2012.

Charges, which included eluding, resisting arrest and assault, have been dropped against Marcus Jeter, 30, while two Bloomfield officers now face charges and a third has retired after pleading guilty to tampering evidence, according to an ABC New York report.

Bloomfield Police officers Sean Courter and Orlando Trinidad have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, official misconduct and falsifying reports. Trinidad has also been charged with aggravated assault.

An internal affairs investigation into the incident had originally found no wrongdoing by the officers, according to the report.

"If we didn't have the tapes in this particular case, an innocent man would be in jail today," Jeter's attorney told ABC.
