Former Belleville Band Teacher Gets 10 Years for Luring Teen, Child Porn

Robert Mucha had pleaded guilty to enticing a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity and receiving child pornography.

A former Belleville band teacher was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for luring a teenage boy to Pennsylvania for sex and possession of child porn, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Robert Mucha, 58, of Newton, previously pleaded guilty to enticing a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity and one count of receiving child pornography.

Mucha convinced a teenage boy in October 2010 to travel from New Jersey to spend the day with him and stay over at his apartment in Stroudsberg, Pa., the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Mucha admitted after his arrest in July 2012 to having sexual contact with the teen, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Mucha, who worked as a volunteer EMT in Andover, previously taught band and Bugle Corps to teens in Belleville and Lakewood.

Mucha will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released and will have a lifetime of supervised release. His access to computers, Internet and children will be restricted and he was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution.
