Items Reported Missing from Nutley Homes

Apparent burglary attempt made at another address last week

A number of thefts and burglaries were reported in Nutley the past week.

On Jan. 26, residents of a Hancox Avenue home told police a laptop valued at $500 was missing. There were no signs of forced entry.

On Jan. 28, a River Road resident left the home in the morning and locked on door, then returned to find the home ransacked, with closet doors and drawers open. An iPad, a red laptop, jewelry and small change were all reported missing.

On Jan. 29, a Cambridge Heights homeowner discovered the locks to the home had all been changed by a property company that had been there to winterize the address. The company had gone to the wrong address, police said. In addition, an expensive necklace was discovered missing from the home.

On Jan. 31, police responded to Edgewood Avenue on a report of an activated alarm. Nothing was found missing at the address but there were pry marks on the back door.
