Man Facing Child Sex Charge Has Disturbing Fetish, Officials Say

A Newton man who taught band and Bugle Corps to teens in Belleville and Lakewood and who allegedly had sexual fantasies about eating children appeared in Newark federal court Wednesday.

Robert Mucha, 56, has been in custody since he was arrested at his home July 26 and charged with a single count of possessing child pornogrpahy.

He has also been charged with enticing a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity after Mucha admitted he persuaded a 15-year-old boy to travel to his apartment in Pennsylvania in October 2010, authorities said. Mucha told authorities he’d had sexual contact with that boy and had also touched hundreds of others for sexual gratification.

Authorities also said Mucha routinely chatted online about kidnapping, raping and eating children, including with a Kansas man charged in May with production of child pornography. 

Mucha faces 10 years to life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
