Newark Man Charged with Dealing Heroin, Oxycodone, in Belleville

Belleville police said officers arrested a Newark man holding heroin packaged for distribution earlier this month. 

According to a Belleville police report, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, police saw Karim Hunter, 35, of Newark, peering into parked cars near the intersection of Franklin and Naples Aves. 

Police said that while they interviewed Hunter, he repeatedly reached into his front jacket pocket. During a search, police reportedly found 17 wax folds of heroin and three Oxycodone pills. 

Police charged Hunter with possession of a controlled dangerous substance for the heroin and the Oxycodone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

He was held on bail, the amount of which police were not able to give, and found to have a $1,000 warrant out of Passaic.
