Nutley Blotter: Lawn Ornaments Taken

Motor-vehicle stop leads to arrest

At 7:20 pm on Nov. 17, a Briar Lane resident reported that a dark older model vehicle pulled into a nearby driveway and parked. A person dressed in dark clothing exited the vehicle and removed a small lantern and a cement squirrel from the victim’s lawn. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

Shortly after 10 am on Nov. 18, police pulled over Joseph Goad, 40, of Nutley. Goad did not have a valid insurance card and was issued a motor-vehicle summons. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by the Palisades Interstate Police and later released.

That same day,  at 7:48 pm, an act of criminal mischief on Oakridge Avenue was reported to police.  The victim stated that their car had been scratched on the front fender, front and back doors, and the rear fender on both the driver's and passenger's sides.
