Nutley Man Arrested After Speeding from Police Checkpoint

On Thursday, a Nutley man was arrested on multiple moving violations after speeding away from a police checkpoint, police said.

Nutley police said that Anthony J. Solitto, 27, sped off in his car when officers at a checkpoint on Park Avenue asked him to pull over.

Officers tracked down Solitto and ran a background check.

Solitto was arrested for warrants out of Newark and Belleville and taken into headquarters.  

Police charged hims with eluding police, second degree, Obstruction, fourth degree, and received motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear seat belt, no front license plate, suspended driver, and failure to comply with directions of an officer.

His bail for the Nutley offenses was set at $20,000 with a 10 percent option.  

He was able to posted bail for the Nutley and Belleville warrants and was released with his Nutley Court date and advised to contact Newark and Belleville Courts for his new Court dates with those jurisdictions.
