Nutley Police Report

The following information was supplied by the Nutley Police Dept. and does not necessarily indicate a conviction of the persons arrested.

Here are the police reports for the week ending April 27, provided by the Nutley Police Department.

April 20

A man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 1:14 p.m. after police spotted him driving erratically near Franklin Avenue and Harrison Street. Victor Bador, 40, of Clifton was arrested and charged with drunken driving then released to a family member pending a court hearing.

Five teens under age 18 were arrested for possessing marijuana at 5:19 p.m. and released to their parents after police questioned them near the railroad tracks by Nutley Avenue.

A woman was arrested and charged with theft after a second woman claimed her purse was stolen from a shopping cart at a grocery store. Police apprehended and arrested Kathleen Armstrong, 46 of New Brunswick with theft at 8:28 p.m. Police did not say if she made bail.

Police and Emergency Medical Services workers took a 55-year-old man to an area hospital for injuries at 8:35 p.m. after someone reported seeing a drunk man in the park near Centre Street.

April 21

Police drove a 45-year-old man to an area hospital for evaluation at 12:54 a.m. after he was found lying in the intersection of Lafayette Place and Park Avenue.

Police found the driver of a 2003 Mitsubishi had no registration and a suspended license during a check of random license plates on Bloomfield Avenue at 1:24 a.m.

A Mountainview Avenue homeowner said a neighbor is feeding stray cats that create a health hazard because the animals are leaving animal waste and rodents in the garage, causing a foul smell. The report was given the Health Department.

Two bicycles were reported stolen from a Kenzel Avenue home. Police are investigating.

Several items were reported missing from a River Road apartment at 5:47 p.m. Police are investigating.

A car bounced off of other vehicles along Grant Avenue, leading police to arrest a man for driving while intoxicated at 9:02 p.m. Jorge Delgado, 33, whose address is unknown, was taken into custody and later released pending a court hearing.

April 22

A Nutley woman told police she was pulled over by a blue pick up truck with flashing blue and red lights. She notified police about the incident after she realized it was not a police vehicle on Prospect Street. Police are investigating.

Police impounded a 1994 Cadillac sedan that was parked on Woodland Avenue for more than a week. The car was unregistered.

April 23

Police found items were stolen from a Bloomfield Avenue convenience store at 12:27 a.m. after a side window had been smashed. Police are investigating.

Jackie McInerney, 24, of Nutley was charged with assault after a dispute at a Hillside Avenue home at 8:31 a.m. She posted $2,500 bail and another $1,150 for outstanding warrants from Livingston and Belleville and was released.

Police officers and firefighters rescued a woman from her Park Avenue home and took her to St. Barnabas Medical Center for treatment of burns to her face she received while cooking at 6:51 p.m.

Police investigated a report that Satanic rituals and witchcraft were happening at an Elm Street home. However, police responded and left after the people living there submitted to a voluntary search at 8:57 p.m. that turned up no evidence.

Samantha Petrullo, 34 of North Plainfield was arrested for driving while intoxicated, for possessing a dangerous substance, having a hypodermic needle and leaving the scene of an accident - besides being an uninsured suspended driver. Police said she left the scene of a car accident on Route 21 at 9:34 a.m.

Police arrested Patricia Krentcil, 44, for endangering the welfare of her five-year old daughter at 10:45 a.m. Her daughter was burned at a tanning booth at an unspecified Nutley location. Krentcil posted bail in Nutley and was taken to the Camden County Sheriff’s Department on unrelated charges.

Charges are pending against two seventh grade boys police said fought behind an area business at 5:14 p.m. after attending Walker Middle School. One of the two boys suffered a black eye. Police are investigating.

April  25

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the person who sprayed graffiti on a wall near the waterfalls at Nichols Park on Bloomfield Avenue. Anyone with information can call police at973-284-4940.

Police took a man to a local hospital after he was struck by a falling tree limb on White Terrace at 5:57 p.m.

The driver of a car parked on Park Street reported that a police shield was stolen from the car’s windshield at 5:31 p.m. Police are investigating.

April 26

Police issued a summons to  a man for turning his back to passing cars on Park Street and urinating at 12:26 p.m.

A Franklin Avenue business owner reported a man asking about a pair of glasses walked out of the store without paying at 10:48 a.m. Police are investigating.

A Newark man said he scared off someone trying to steal his 1994 Honda on Newark Avenue at 11:55 p.m. The person who tried to steal the car was described as a white man, approximately five feet, eight inches tall. Police are investigating.
