Nutley Police Investigating Burglaries into Trailers

Thieves reportedly stole tools after breaking into trailers after cutting locks.

Nutley police said that thieves broke into three township trailers and stole thousands of dollars worth of tools and equipment.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, a theft victim told police that burglars had cut the lock to break into their trailer on Franklin Ave. Police said the thief stole $2,250 worth of tools, including a Blue Emglow double stack air compressor, air gun, finishing gun, framing gun, Construction Stapler, and a porter cable router.

On Friday, a resident reported that their landscaping trailer had been broken into. Police said the trailer’s locking latch was cut and that about $6,000 worth of landscaping equipment was stolen. Among the stolen items were four backpack style blowers, two gas powered string trimmers, a gas powered string trimmer, two gas chain saws and various hand tools.

The same day, another resident reported that someone tried to break into a landscape trailer. Police believe someone tried to break the lock with a tool like a bolt cutter. There was no other damage seen at the site.

Nutley detectives are investigating the reports.
