Police: Man Gets High Bail for Attempted Perfume Heist in Belleville

Several cars vandalized and a $12,000 ring stolen

Two people vandalized at least four cars along Crest Drive and a fifth on Union Avenue, Belleville police said.

A witness saw a male and a female running past parked cars on Crest around 12:44 am Nov. 11 and banging on side mirrors.  Driver’s side doors on the vehicles had also been damaged.

Police are investigating.

A $12,000, one-carat diamond platinum ring was reported stolen from a Hamilton Street home Nov. 15 around 6:34 pm. The day before, at 9:17 am, a Cortlandt Street business reported that a $1,600 computer had been stolen. A laptop, as well as tools with a total value of $2,800 was reported taken from a garage on Greylock Parkway around 12:59 pm on Nov. 13.

A Jersey City man was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail after he allegedly tried to rob the Walgreens drugstore, 325 Washington Ave.

At 10:25 pm on Nov. 11, Omar Cintron, 28, attempted to leave the store with $43 worth of perfume, police said. When a security guard tried to stop him, Cintron shoved him to the ground and attempted to flee. Another employee managed to subdue Cintron and hold him at the scene until police arrived.
