Police Sergeant Suing Nutley Mayor

Published reports say that Nutley Mayor Alphonse Petracco is facing another legal complaint from a police officer.

Nutley Police Sgt. Christopher Lamond has filed a complaint against Mayor and Public Safety Commissioner Alphonse Petracco and the Nutley, the Nutley Sun reports.

The police sergeant reportedly accuses the mayor of harassment and attempting to dictate Lamond’s political choices. The Sun reports that the complaint states that in late November of 2011, Petracco allegedly admonished Lamond for attending a fundraiser for Commissioner Mauro Tucci’s reelection and later criticized him for attending another campaign event.

The complaint also alleges that Petracco ordered Lamond to meet with Tucci to influence Tucci's vote on changes to the department and allegedly suggested Lamond buy food trays from Petracco’s delicatessen and send them to Tucci’s store.
