Police: Sword-Wielding Brothers Arrested Following Dispute

Belleville men face weapons charges

Two brothers were arrested in Belleville Jan. 19 after they threatened a third man with a sword, township police said.

Fabio and Alejandro Laguer, aged 19 and 20, respectively, began arguing with the man near a Van Rensselaer Street apartment around 8 pm. The brothers accused the man of damaging a car, police said.

As the argument grew more heated, one of the brothers entered the home and emerged with a 4-foot sword, threatening the man. When one of the brothers dropped the sword, the other picked it up and continued to brandish it during the dispute, police said.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested the two. Both brothers were charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
