Suspects in Belleville Robberies Arrested

Two arrests made following investigation

Belleville police arrested suspects in two separate burglaries last week, a spokesman said.

On Jan. 14 around 1:40 pm, two men walked onto the porch of a Cortlandt Street home and attempted to steal tools, police said. A resident of the home came out on the porch and startled the men, who ran from the scene. Responding officers spotted the pair a few blocks away and placed them under arrest.

Carlos Camacho, 43, was charged with burglary, theft and possession of a hypodermic needle. Alfonso Reyes, 18, also faces burglary and theft charges. The Newark residents were both being held on $50,000 bail.

The following day a Malone Avenue resident reported the the theft of $55 in cash and an $800 laptop. There were no signs of forced entry but a window was unlocked, police said.

Following an investigation, on Jan. 17 police arrested township resident Sergio Degiacomo, 21, and a 17-year-old. The computer was also recovered, police said.
