In separate incident, man charged with burglary

Officers on patrol spotted a Dodge Stratus moving slowly around 3 am Oct. 15. The occupants appeared to be examining the parked cars, police said. The car they were driving had been  reported stolen, police said.

When police tried to pull the vehicle over, it took off, leading police on a chase that ended when the car crashed into a parked vehicle near Linden Avenue and Greylock Parkway.

Dwayne Paige, 19, of East Orange, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested along with a 16-year-old boy whose name was not released. Police also recovered an airsoft pellet gun.

Paige, who was driving the vehicle, was charged with eluding, possession of a weapon and possession of stolen property. The youth was charged with possession of a weapon and possession of stolen property.

Paige was being held on bail. Information about the disposition of the youth was not immediately available.

Earlier this month, on Oct. 13, a Belleville man was arrested on burglary charges after he allegedly attempted to break into a Joralemon Street home.

Robert Schiller, 52, attempted the break-in around 6:15 pm, when the home was occupied, police said. He was being held on $10,000 bail.
