Washington Ave. Store Robbed at Gunpoint

Police say armed robber forced employees and customers into bathroom.

An armed man forced six customers in a back room during a daylight robbery of a Washington Avenue business, Belleville police said.

According to police, an black man wearing a yellow t-shirt, a cargo hat and white sunglasses entered the store shortly before 11:30 on Monday, August 19.

The man reportedly brandished a black handgun with a brown handle and ordered the customers into the bathroom.

Police said the robber took $100 from the store and two cell phones and $30 in cash from customers before running south on Washington Ave. 

Police said the robbery is an open investigation.
