Belleville Board of Education Reorganizes

Board President, Vice President picked while a new member is welcomed.

The Belleville Board of Education has reorganized and unanimously picked Peter Zangari as School Board President for the second consecutive year. Patricia Pisano-Inaugerato was also chosen as Board Vice President for a second year, at the board's meeting Monday night.

Zangari and Jeanne Lombardi were elected to 3-year terms in the April 17 Board of Education elections. Lombardi begins her first term, while Zangari is starting his second term.

Judy Piscatowski was honored for her service as a board member, which included a three-year term that ended this spring when she chose not to seek re-election. She was also a board member for two, three-year terms in the early 2000s.

Zangari and Jeanne Lombardi were sworn in at the meeting, while Piscatowski said a few words after being honored by the board.

Zangari thanked his family, then said, “The first time you win, it’s very exciting. By the second time, you’ve had three years and when you win, you know the taxpayers appreciate what you’ve been doing.”

Pisano-Inaugerato welcomed Lombardi as, “another female board member” and talked about continuing to work together.

“I’m very excited about what we’re going to do in the future,” she said.

Lombardi said the campaign was a great experience, and she was ready to begin, after years as a parent organization leader.

“I look forward to getting to work,” she said. “I’m joining this team and I’m ready to continue the great things being done.”

Piscatowski joked about the disagreements among board members, but said the end result was always positive.

“It was a tough three years,” she said. “It becomes a full-time job. But we accomplished a lot. We may have disagreed, but when we walked out of a room, we did so as friends, and eventually – as family.”
