DiVincenzo to Seek Another Term as Exec

The former Nutley resident has held the seat for more than a decade.

Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo will launch his campaign for a fourth term during an event Monday at Essex County College in Newark, the campaign announced Thursday.

DiVincenzo, the fifth county executive under the present system of county government,  was first elected in 2002 after serving as president of the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and succeeded Verona Republican James Treffinger.

The Democrat and Newark native has focused on improving the county’s park system and open space resources during his tenure.

Often called by his nickname "Joe D," DiVincenzo was a 35-year resident of Nutley until he sold his house earlier this year, according to a Nutley Sun report.

DiVincenzo, Jr. will kick off his re-election on Monday morning at 9:45 a.m. in the Essex County College Gymnasium on West Market Street in Newark.
