Local Justice: Decisions in Belleville Municipal Court

The Municipal Court handles criminal cases arising in Belleville. Three of the cases handled this week are reported below.

In State v. Evette Mercado, of Newark, the State charged defendant with possession of a prescribed controlled dangerous substance on March 19.  After a trial, defendant was found guilty.  The Court imposed a one year term of supervised probation and also imposed fees and costs totaling $907. 

In State v. Inoel Sackorr, of Belleville, the State charged defendant with having debris on his yard.  Defendant pleaded guilty.  The Court imposed fees and costs totaling $130.

In State v. Aljalic J Simmons, of Belleville, the State charged defendant with drinking in public on March 19.  Defendant pleaded guilty.  The Court imposed fees and costs totaling $130.

The Belleville Municipal Court convenes in the Municipal Building, located at
152 Washington Avenue.  The Court convenes Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
