Normal Voting Locations in Belleville, Nutley Open Tuesday

Other voting options available in wake of Sandy

Some residents in Belleville and Nutley may still be without power Monday morning due to Sandy a week ago. Schools in Belleville, meanwhile, are not planned to reopen until Wednesday. And everyone is nervously eyeing the needle on the gas gauge and wondering when they’ll be able to fuel up again in under three hours.

But as far as voting Tuesday goes, at least, disruption will be fairly minimal.

Voters in both Nutley and Belleville will be able to cast their ballots at their normal polling place, township clerks in both communities said this morning. For those who have been displaced by the storm, the state of New Jersey Saturday has authorized electronic voting.

People can also vote in-person, and early, at the Essex County Clerk’s Office, Monday until 4:30 pm. Voters who choose this option will be asked to fill in a mail-in ballot application and will then be able to cast that ballot in the same building.

The Essex County Clerk’s Office is located at 465 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Newark.
