Red Cross Awards $200K to Aid Essex County Sandy Recovery

The Red Cross Thursday announced an award of nearly $1 million for Sandy recovery in Hudson, Union and Essex counties.

The Red Cross grants announced today will be used to conduct assessments of residents in affected areas to determine damages and remaining unmet needs, assign case managers to help clients develop a recovery plan and to repair and rebuild homes across all three counties, according to a Red Cross spokesperson.

“The Red Cross has worked with our New Jersey communities since the early days of the storm response and will continue throughout the recovery process,” said Mathieu Nelessen, regional CEO, American Red Cross North Jersey Region. “This funding will go a long way in helping residents of Hudson, Union and Essex Counties rebuild and recover.”
