Belleville High Introduces Pageant Scholarship

Pageant will crown Mister and Miss Belleville who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Belleville High School has introduced a new scholarship this year for juniors called the “Belleville High School Scholarship Pageant."

"We’re doing this because it brings a new venue into the high school," said Gary Politano, a Belleville High School teacher and coordinator of this program. "It’s a production, as well as being a scholarship program."

The students participating in the scholarship competition pageant will learn interviewing skills and how to address an audience.

“Most importantly,” Politano said, “they’ll learn the spirit of competition, which I think has been taken away from this generation.”

The Belleville High School Scholarship Pageant will be held at the Connie Francis Theatre May 14 at 7:30 p.m.

"I would like to thank the entire school, the teachers, and the administrators that have been extremely beneficial to this program’s success," Politano said. "But mostly, I would like to thank the Paserchia Family Scholarship Foundation for their benevolence in awarding the two scholarships of $1,000 each as an endowment scholarship that will be awarded to the winners: both Mister and Miss Belleville.”
