Belleville Student's Essay Deemed One of Top in the Nation

Student's work will be collected in a book published by Rand McNally.

Emely Cosme, an 11th Grade United States History 2 Honors student at Belleville High School, landed in the top 50 among 8,000 entries in a national writing competition.

Her essay, "If you knew the truth, would you still eat it?" was one of the top 50 essays in the nation as judged by Rand McNally Publishing Company. Her essay will be published in an upcoming book.

Belleville school officials touted how Cosme was in the top 99 percent of all essays submitted in the "Dear Mr. President" competition.

The question posed that she responded to was "What is the most important issue facing our nation today." Her essay was intriguingly titled "If you knew the truth, would you still eat it?"
