Belleville Soup Kitchen Closes
The Mary and Martha Soup Kitchen closing after 12 years of service.
The Belleville soup kitchen operated by Christ Episcopal Church in Belleville served its last meal Saturday, according to published reports.
The Belleville Times reported that the building is being sold, and will be taken over by another church. The volunteer-run Mary and Martha Soup Kitchen will shut down after serving needy area residents for 12 years.
The kitchen at one time served between 50 and 80 hungry people three times a week, according to the Belleville Times.
